MOTIVATING PASSION

Does your ministry need a shot in the arm? Here are a few simple steps you can use to generate or re-generate excitement about your ministry.

1. Have one leadership meeting that you build to fan passion.
  • Use the right song or sharing on the right topic.
  • Ask some people to come and share how much the ministry means to them.
  • Make a video clip.
  • Share some words on the importance of ministry from Scripture... "What does a man gain if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?"
  • Impress that "We get to do this eternity thing together and you will never know till you get to heaven the difference you have made in someone else's life." "Thank you so much that we get to do it together."
  • Perhaps end with a special song, some low-lighting and testimonies with some background music behind the testimonies...that so makes leaders say, "Sign me up again."

We all need to be inspired. This isn't manipulation and it's just one of the sad tragedies when you're the head leader, you have to do that for yourself, because no one's doing it for you.

2. Realize that motivation comes as you have specific goals. Set some outreach goals for your ministry like these:
  • Target specific places and maybe get your leaders to walk around them when nobody's there and pray that the Lord brings you a harvest from that place.
  • Set a goal for every other month to work extra hard and have an illustrated message that's outreach oriented. Pass out promo handouts at least two weeks in advance and tell them you know it's going to be a year where we have new believers in a significant measure come to the Lord.

Remember, passion is motivation when there is something you can attach it to.
